The 2011 Race


The 2011 event raised a total of £3201.63 which was presented to LOROS at the Royal Oak on Friday the 14th October.


2011 saw the introduction of a new Junior (under 16’s ) race that took part on the recreational ground in Bindley’s Lane.

There were a number of side stalls and display’s which included, a pets corner, craft stall, hot food etc. along with displays from the Fire & Ambulance services, fun started at 12 p.m. with the junior race taking part at 2.15 p.m. followed by the adults race at 3.15 p.m. which this year started from the recreational ground and follow the same route as last year along Bindley’s Lane, down main street, around the village green (this year the racers stoped at the Greyhound for a drink) and back the same way finishing at the recreational ground.

Harborough FM presented their afternoon show from the wheelbarrow race so some race-goers ended up on the radio!

Everyone who took part received a souvenir medal.

Prizes were presented not only for the winners but also the best fancy dressed barrow and contestants!

The day finished at the Royal Oak there with a BBQ and live music by ‘Jimmies Rythem’ and lots of further fund raising events and at The Old Greyhound there was also a BBQ, live music by Denni and lots to entertain the children.
